A body fat percentage chart (like the ones below) shows if you have a healthy body fat percentage, a too high or too low body fat percentage. You’ll find below a fat percentage chart for each of the sexes – in fact, these are the same charts that all our weight loss coaching clients get.
Along with Tom Venuto’s Burn the Fat Program, the “Bible” of weight loss and one of the best fat-burning systems available helping you easily reach and stay at your ideal body fat percentage, these charts are very helpful when you want to lose weight AND get fit at the same time.

As you know, the consequences of a higher-than-optimal body fat percentage are low levels of fitness, overweight and even obesity – with the well-known associated dangers of being overweight.
However, what you may not know is that very low levels of body fat can be harmful for your health too.
How so?
Well, if you have a too low body fat percentage you can experience dangerous disruptions in your brain functioning, hormonal activity (especially if you’re a woman), and inability to absorb vital liposoluble (fat-soluble) vitamins like A and D.
Plus, you’re likely to have low energy levels, a decreased libido, and a higher risk to injure your joints.
Before looking at the charts below, you have to determine the percentage of your body fat using either body fat scales, or one of the other 5 ways to measure your body fat percentage.
And you have to understand one more thing… Regardless of your age and sex, the ideal body fat percentage is NOT the lowest possible amount of body fat, but the optimal level at which you are healthy and fit.
To assess your current level of body fat, take a look at the charts below:
Body Fat Percentage Chart for Women
If you’re a woman, depending on your age, a healthy body fat percentage is 19-31%:

So if you are not at a healthy body fat percentage, you may want to take a look at how to transform your body into the fittest shape ever in 49 days flat with Burn the Fat Program >>
Body Fat Percentage Chart for Men
If you’re a man, depending on your age, a healthy body fat percentage is 11-23%:

As you can see, your sex and age count considerably when it comes to a healthy body fat percentage.
First, when you look on the chart above, you can easily see that the body fat percentage in women is higher. Why?
Because if you are a woman, your body needs more body fat to help you deal with a much more complex hormonal activity and during pregnancy… This is easy to understand. Obviously, your optimal levels of body fat would be very high for a man of a same age like yours.
Second, the body fat percentage chart above shows that the body fat percentage increases with age… Wonder why? Well, that’s because your metabolism gradually begins to slow down when you get older and as your muscle mass tends to naturally diminish, your body fat starts to increase.
Each Body Fat Percentage Chart Above…
…shows you what is the level of body fat for each level of fitness.
For instance, if you want to achieve a lean, fat-free look, your body fat percentage should be less than 19% if you are a woman and less than 11% if you are a man.
Is this possible?
Yes, with the proper diet and regular training, these goals are realistic AND achievable. For example, women with developed and well-defined muscles have as low as 9-12% body fat.
Similarly, male bodybuilders with a ripped look can have as low as 3-6% of body fat.
However, anything below these levels of body fat is considered extremely dangerous for your health.
