What is My Body Type? What is My Perfect Body Type Diet? Get Your Answers Here!


If you are wondering, "What is my body type?" and want to know more about the different body types, here's the gist about each of the basic body types...

...plus an additional system of body typing, which you may find that is working better for you - if you are more into fitness and working out.

But no matter which of these different body types you identify with, you will lose weight easier with a matching body type diet.

That's why it's so important to find out what body type you have and work with it, not against it.

To a great extent, the concept of different body types (somatotypes), is based on the fact that once your body frame (bones and muscles) had finished its development, its blueprint is pretty much fixed throughout your whole life.

That's because this blueprint is pre-programmed genetically.

Before we go any further, you should know that while you can change your body composition (i.e. muscle over fat ratio) with exercise and diet, your basic body type will always remain the same.

In other words, you can change the shape of your body but can't alter your body type.

Also, keep in mind that your height has nothing to do with your body type.


"What is My Body Type?" is the Most Asked Question...

...I get from my clients as well as site visitors like you. Along with, "why is my body type important for losing weight?"

Well, here’s why.

Because how you get the weight off differs greatly depending on your own body type. Any experienced nutritionist or fitness professional will use body typing to customize an effective, individual diet and workout for you, specifically.

Don't allow yourself to be confused by the fact that there are several systems of body typing... For example, if you have little body fat and are seriously into sports and exercising, you might relate more to a system of body typing, based on Edward Jackowski’s four body shapes.

Otherwise, when it comes to gaining and losing weight and your question "what is my body type?" the body type system we'll refer to is Dr. William Sheldon's, which classifies the different body types in three main types (or somatotypes), depending on the prominence of the basic tissue type - i.e., nervous, muscular and digestive:

What Is My Body Type
  • Ectomorph: slim, long & thin limbs and muscles with lowest body fat, a fast metabolic rate and a more sensitive temperament with an artistic inclination

  • Mesomorph: athletic, large bones, big muscles with medium to low body fat, a medium to fast metabolic rate and an active, dynamic, competitive personality

  • Endomorph: heavy build, wider waist with a higher body fat, a typically slower metabolic rate and an extroverted, caring and nurturing temperament

With this in mind, remember that you have most likely a combination of 2 (or even 3) of these body types.

You may be surprised to know that this system of body typing goes back to the works of classical philosophers like Gurdjief, Nietzsche and Plato... They are believed to have based their work on the millenary proven concepts of Indian Ayurveda body types.

So if you ask yourself, "what is my body type?" and "what body type diet should I use?", you are not alone. Trying to combine different body type diets and workout routines is often confusing, I know.

But in talking about the different body types I'll try to keep it simple. You'll discover more details about each body type: along with description of the particular bone frame, soft tissue structure, metabolism and even personality traits you'll find recommendations for your specific body type diet and most effective workout routine.
