Overweight Linked to Painful Fibromyalgia

Overweight-Fibromyalgia ConnectionOverweight is linked to painful fibromyalgia especially in women, according to a recent study done in Norway on 16,000 people over 11 years, by Paul J. Mork from the Human Movement Science Program at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim.

Known as an affection characterized by chronic pain in the shoulders, neck, back, arms, legs and hips, and depression, fatigue, brain-fog and sleep problems, fibromyalgia is shown to affect obese and overweight women a whooping 60-70% more than normal-weight women!

And there's more. The study has shown that women who exercised at least 4 times per week had almost 30% lower risk of developing fibromyalgia than inactive women. Although it's not clear what types of exercises have the biggest impact on lowering the risks of painful fibromyalgia, it is shown that as little as 2 hours of exercising weekly lowers the risks by a significant 23%!
